Dear Co-op Parents,

As the summer winds down, the anticipation and excitement of a

new school year begins.  In just a few short weeks, our children

will make their way up the path to the Co-op, where a new chapter

of adventure, self-discovery, and friendships await.

At the heart of the Co-op experience is our community, which

extends well beyond the classroom doors.  We as parents grow and

learn together throughout the year, just as our children do. Through involvement in classroom activities, fundraising committees, playground gatherings, or the occasional parents’ night out, bonds are created and lasting friendships are formed.  A “co-operative” in the true sense of the word, WWCNS relies on the active participation of our families to thrive.  The school is administered by a parent-led board, and supports our teachers and students through fundraisers and volunteer activities throughout the year.

Each year our volunteer structure evolves. Last May, we revised our school bylaws, and this fall will introduce a four new oversight and planning committees that we invite parents to participate in - Governance, Finance, Fundraising, and Community. We will provide more information on the committees in the beginning weeks of school.  On the fundraising side, we will be taking a  break from the Tag Sale and refocusing our volunteer efforts on the Spring Social and Touch-a-Truck.  We ask that each family lend their time and talents to one of these events; you can share your fundraising committee preference on the volunteer form included in this packet.

We also encourage you to get involved in myriad other ways, whether reading a book to your child’s class, attending a parent education series, participating in our Playground Clean-up, or sharing your thoughts at a school-wide meeting.  As a member of the Co-op, you have a voice, and we can’t wait to hear it!

The fall will bring many opportunities for community engagement and connection - playground playdates, parent coffees and cocktails, board meetings, Back to School Night, Fall Festival, and more.  We hope that you will join us.  Until then, enjoy the final days of summer as you gear up for new adventures in the year ahead.  I look forward to seeing you on the path in September!

Warm regards,
