The Fours program has great focus on the fostering of independence.
The children begin to manage their own belongings, problem solve by
experimentation, and explore new ideas. Teachers listen to the
children’s interests when developing themes which integrate skill
building in all developmental areas. Learning is meaningful when it is
in a context that the children have chosen. Literacy and numeracy
skills are emphasized in encouraging the children who are ready to
write and count for themselves. The Fours take many field trips during
the school year, expanding their learning beyond the classroom. They
participate in music and movement, science and French specials.
There are two groups of four year olds. They both meet Monday through Friday from
9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
