Westport Weston Cooperative Nursery School Westport Weston Cooperative Nursery School

Our Mission

Education at the Co-op follows a child-centered approach which views the child as a whole individual and his or her needs, questions and sensibilities are given individual attention.
A primary teaching goal is for the children to view themselves as capable life-long learners.

The strong belief is that a family’s willingness to participate in the functions of our school fosters an early example for our children of the cooperation that is an integral part of education.

We recognize that this is an interdependent triangle among child, teacher and family, which directly impacts each child’s personal growth and development.

The teacher’s role is to provide an enriched, safe and stimulating environment in which children are free to play and select activities at their own pace. Teachers provide nurturing support to the individual needs of the children in their care.

Each child’s creative, emotional, social and intellectual growth is recognized and encouraged.

The school believes that helping a child develop a positive self-image is the best foundation for his or her future education.
